プレゼンテーションは、基本的に以下の構成に沿って行われます。
プレゼンテーションは自分のペースで進行速度を調整することができるので、準備次第で対応できる余地が大きいです。
一方で、難しいのがFAQやプレゼン中にオーディエンスから突然来る質問です。
質問に適切に回答するためには、
- 質問を聴き取る
- 質問の意図を正しく理解する
- 意図に沿った回答ができる
という3つの要素が必要になります。
つまり、プレゼンテーションの進行に必要な表現だけでなく「英語を聴き取るための基礎英語力」や「プレゼンテーションのトピックに関する深い知識」の2つも対策しておくことが重要です。
想定できる質問をあらかじめ考えておいたり、同僚や友人にプレゼンテーションを見せて質問をもらったりなどして対応すると良いでしょう。
前置きが長くなりましたが、早速プレゼンテーションで役立つ表現をみていきましょう。
1) Introductionで役立つ表現
導入では、プレゼンテーションの主題と目的を明確に伝えることが大切です。
仮に面識のない人がプレゼンテーションに参加する場合は、本題に入る前に自己紹介を述べることも忘れないようにしてください。
自己紹介では、自分の名前と企業内での役職や自分の役割について簡潔に述べると良いでしょう。

主題と目的を伝える表現
- Today, I’d like to talk about…

留意点を伝える表現
- If you have any questions about anything, feel free to interrupt.
- If anything isn’t clear, please raise your hand and I’ll do my best to answer your question.

音量の確認（オンライン）

2) Bodyで役立つ表現
プレゼンテーションでは、表やグラフなどを描写しつつそこから導き出せる結論や仮説などを述べていきます。
他にもスライドを移行する時に一言声をかけたり、特に重要な部分を強調してプレゼンテーションで伝えたいことを際立たせます。

3) FAQで役立つ表現
プレゼンテーション後の質疑応答は、場合によってはかなりクリティカルな角度から質問が飛んでくる可能性があります。
仮に答えがその場で思いつかない場合は、無理に答えようとせずに “I will follow up with you later” などと後で回答する旨をしっかり伝えるようにしましょう。
少し考えれば答えが出そうな時は、
- Well, that’s an interesting question.
- That’s a great question I must say.
- Let me think about it.
といった表現でうまく時間調整を行うと良いでしょう。
FAQに移行する表現
- Thank you for your attention. I hope you found this presentation useful, and I’d be happy to answer any questions.
- Thank you for listening. We now have (10) minutes left. Does anyone have any questions?
質問に対応する表現
- Thank you for your question, [Name]. I’m glad you asked.
- I’m not 100% sure, but off the top of my head, I can tell you that…
- Are you asking about…?
- Can you please clarify what exactly you mean by…? I’m not sure I fully understand.
- I’m afraid I don’t have the exact figures at hand, but if you give me your email address at the end, I can follow up with you later.
- Does that answer your question?
- I hope that makes sense. Is that the kind of answer you were looking for?
4) Closingで役立つ表現
クロージングは感謝を端的に伝えることを意識します。
- I’d like to thank you for taking time out to listen to my presentation.
- Thank you for listening / your attention. / Many thanks for coming.
